Web Site Design

Want a simple site? Complex site? I can do it for you. Give me your information, and I'll build a site from scratch, or update your current site. How many times have you seen speling misstakes on websights? Doesn't it look silly? Whether you're a commercial company, a not-for-profit organization, or just an individual with something to say, this is not the kind of image you want to portray to the world. I make sure there isn't a single spelling or grammatical error before any page is posted. (With the exception of this one, of course.) That includes any text that may be built into regular or animated graphics. I do basic HTML coding, complex frame-based sites, Javascript, and Flash work. If your webserver supports it, I can also do server side scripting in PHP.

Take a look at a couple of examples of our Flash work:

Three days is a simple little animation that I put together myself...well....three days after I first saw Macromedia Flash. It's not complicated, but it's also done with only three days of self-taught skills.

Tomorrow takes a fair amount of memory and processor power to run effectively. If it jumps, or stutters, try closing some other programs, or browser windows. If it still does it, don't bother going out and getting a more powerful computer. It's only an example, so if you really want to see it up to speed, just find a friend who's got a faster system.

Story Maker is a simple Javascript program that takes a few nouns and verbs that you type in, and fills them into a preset story, resulting in something completely nonsensical, similar to some children's activity books. While this is a fairly pointless use of the Javascript language, many other, more popular uses, will prevent the site from being seen properly in some browsers. I won't use Javascript to the point where it blocks out some potential customers who may be using browsers such as Arachne, Dillo, or a web-enabled cellphone. I will also recommend against such uses for anyone who requests any website work. I can, and will, do it if you request it, I just don't think it's a good idea.

Some other sites we've designed are:
CKT International Trading Group, for which we also designed the company logo.
A Tribute to Human Stupidity. we designed all graphics on the entire site, with the exception of StarOffice and AnyBrowser graphics.

Web Site Consultation

What does your site look like on something other than Internet Explorer 6.0 running on Windows 2000 or XP? Do you know? Are you missing out on some of your target audience, simply because of a web site design that requires cutting edge technology to view it? How about people with Netscape 3 on Windows 3.1 with a 486, Lynx on Linux, or Arachne on DOS? Your site needs to "degrade gracefully" in order to catch these potential viewers. There are plenty of codes in HTML that are specifically meant to let a lower-end browser/computer package view all the information that your fantastic Flash animation shows. The problem is, lots of web designers don't use them. Instead of a cool Flash movie, viewers get a choppy picture of a blue jigsaw puzzle piece, or something like that. Just because it works on your computer, doesn't mean it works on your potential customers' computers.

We will take a URL to an existing site, and check it with various browsers and operating systems, to see what works, and what doesn't, then offer suggestions to improve your site for alternative systems.
